Promoter Barry Hearn calls for probe into Anthony Ogogo loss
Promoter Barry Hearn says the British Boxing Board of Control should look into the circumstances of Anthony Ogogo’s loss to Craig Cunningham.
Middleweight Ogogo was retired by his corner in the eighth round, having suffered a fractured eye socket.
But reports suggest he might have been injured before the fight.
“The boxing board will want to get to the bottom of this situation because it’s not good for boxing and it’s not good for the fighter,” Hearn said.
“It’s a really dangerous injury and something you don’t play Russian roulette with in your own career. Anthony is a talented fighter. It’s not the end of his career, but it very much depends on his own resourcefulness to continue and achieve his dreams.”
