Hearn: Joshua-Klitschko rematch could be confirmed next week
Eddie Hearn has revealed there are still “interesting dynamics” to settle on before details of Anthony Joshua’s next fight can be announced but a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko could be confirmed next week.
Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, stated last week that November 11 has been “pencilled in” for another showdown between the British heavyweight champion and veteran Klitschko.
Talks between the two parties are ongoing, but a bout in Las Vegas is still on the cards and Hearn hopes an agreement can be reached in the very near future.
“I think by the end of next week, we’ll have a final decision in terms of venue and opponent for Anthony Joshua,” Hearn told Sky Sports.
“At the moment, everything is geared towards Wladimir Klitschko in Las Vegas. There are some interesting dynamics to the commercials of the deal, which we are working through with [Klitschko’s manager] Bernd Boente.
“AJ will go on holiday at the weekend with his family for a week and then we will be going straight into camp. Watch this space for an announcement.”
IBF, IBO and WBA (super) heavyweight Joshua knocked former world champion Klitschko out in the 11th round of an epic battle at Wembley in April.
