Heartland FC close to NPFL return after Beyond Limits slot agreement
Heartland FC are closing in on a return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), after reprotedly reaching an agreement with Beyond Limits Academy for a slot sale.
Newly promoted Beyond Limits Academy, a rising force in Nigerian football, faced uncertainty about their participation in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the upcoming 2024/2025 season.
Despite their commendable achievement as champions of the Nigeria National League (NNL), the club’s future in the top tier remains undecided with the latest reports saying Heartland will take their place.
Beyond Limits Academy secured their place in the NPFL alongside El-Kanemi Warriors, Nasarawa United, and Ikorodu City FC, thanks to their standout performances in the NNL Super Eight playoffs held in Enugu State.
The slot sale aligns with comments from the club’s owner, Hon. Kunle Soname, who revealed that the decision to compete in the NPFL next season was still under consideration.
Soname, who is also the owner of Remo Stars, had expressed the club’s dilemma in a conversation with journalists in Lagos. “Football for us isn’t a social service, it’s a business,” Soname explained. He elaborated on the club’s ongoing discussions regarding the financial and logistical challenges associated with participating in the NPFL.
“The management of Beyond Limits is evaluating whether they can manage the demands of the NPFL, both financially and physically,” Soname added. “If they determine they can handle it, they will participate. Otherwise, they will explore alternative ways to leverage their achievement.”
Per multiple sources, Heartland FC are now waiting for approval from the NPFL before making official announcement that they will replace Beyond Limits Academy in the NPFL for the 2024/2025 season.
