Heartland FC set to host maiden edition of Dan Anyiam Cup against Kun Khalifat FC
Heartland Football Club has announced its plans to host Nigeria National League side Kun Khalifat FC in the inaugural Dan Anyiam Cup, a friendly match set to take place at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri this Thursday, September 5th.
The Dan Anyiam Cup is being held in honor of Nigeria’s first national team captain, Dan Anyiam, who also served as a coach for Heartland FC. This event will now serve as an annual dress rehearsal for the Naze Millionaires before they kick off their season.
The club released a statement detailing that the friendly match, which has a trophy at stake, will be held under the stadium’s floodlights. The day’s activities will begin with the unveiling of the club’s new recruits to their passionate fanbase, starting at 4 p.m., followed by the match at 5 p.m.
This match marks Heartland FC’s first public outing since the tragic accident that claimed the life of their coach, Christian Obi. The game is not only an opportunity for the team to prepare for the upcoming season but also a moment of tribute to the late coach and a celebration of the club’s rich history.
Fans and supporters are eagerly anticipating the unveiling of the new players, as well as the chance to see the team in action for the first time since the incident. The Dan Anyiam Cup is expected to be a significant event for both the club and its supporters as they look forward to a successful season.
