Heartland FC Strengthen Squad with Nine New Signings Ahead of Second Half of NPFL Season
Heartland FC have added nine new players to their squad ahead of the second half of the 2024-25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The new signings, carefully selected, aim to improve the club’s performance in the second half of the season as Heartland looks to avoid relegation worries and finish the season strong.
Among the key signings are Anthony Omaka and Daniel Ekpo. Omaka, a former Sunshine Stars and Enyimba player, joins from ASVO FC in Benin Republic. Ekpo, a talented winger, makes the move from Abia Warriors to Heartland.
Other new arrivals include John Bassey (from Bayelsa United), Kenneth Ache (from Heartland Feeders), Stephen Ezeamaiwe (from Bendel Insurance), Isaac Nassy (from Doma United), Samuel Agu (from Akwa United), Terdoo Shimagande (from Nasarawa United), and Joel Okoro (also from Nasarawa United).
Emmanuel Amuneke, Heartland’s Technical Manager, expressed confidence that the new players will make an immediate impact and help improve the team’s performance. Speaking to the club’s media, Amuneke said, “We have brought in players who will help us achieve our goals. We expect them to blend well with the rest of the squad and improve our results in the second half of the season.”
Amuneke also urged the people of Imo state to continue supporting the team, even during tough times. “We have worked hard to ensure better performance in the second half and we believe it will be a successful period for us. We need the support of our fans because, without them, we are nothing,” he added.
Heartland’s first match of the second round will be at home against Lobi Stars in Owerri on Sunday. They will be aiming for a win after drawing 0-0 in the reverse fixture in Lafia in late December 2024.
