Heartland pick up come-from-behind victory as Adamawa United pick up first win of season

Heartland FC came back from a goal down to defeat Dakkada FC 2-1 in their NPFL Matchday 12 fixture at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri with a dramatic late goal.

Dakkada took the lead in the first half through Kokoette Udo, who scored a brilliant first time half volley to make it 1-0. The game turned on its head 5 minutes into the second half when Emmanuel Adachi sidefooted a fine effort into the corner of the net to equalise for Heartland with his fourth goal of the season. Moments later, Dakkada’s captain, Aniekan Ekpe was sent off for dissent in the aftermath of the Heartland goal. The Naze Millionaires made their numerical advantage count as substitute Kingsley Maduforo scored a late strike in added time to secure Heartland’s three points. Heartland have now moved up to 8th on the log.

Adamawa United won their first game of the 2020/21 NPFL season against Lobi Stars in their 12th game. The bottom placed side won the game after a 78th minute strike from Stanley Nnanna sealed the three points for them at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe as they look to haul themselves off the bottom of the table.

Katsina United and MFM FC played out a drab goalless draw at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium. There was not much by way of goalmouth action in the game as both sides remain in their mid-table positions.
