Henk van Stee: Maduka Okoye turned down several clubs to sign for Sparta Rotterdam

Maduka Okoye turned down offers from several clubs before joining Sparta Rotterdam from Fortuna Düsseldorf according to Henk van Stee.

Henk van Stee who is Sparta Rotterdam manager has expressed his pleasure with club in capturing Nigeria’s Maduka Okoye.

The 58-year-old tactician revealed that Maduka Okoye was not without suitors from all over Europe but he chose his team because he believes in their project.

Henk van Stee said he is looking forward to seeing the value the German born goalkeeper will add to his team.

‘With Maduka we bring in a great talent who has a lot of potential,’ says Henk van Stee

‘He was in the interest of several clubs from different countries, but he believes he can take the next step at Sparta.

‘We believe he can be of value to this club and are happy that he signed here. ”

Maduka Okoye made his Super Eagles debut in Novmber 2019 in Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against Brazil.
