Hornets end Pistons’ four-game winning streak, Spurs too good for Sixers

Cody Zeller led the way as the Charlotte Hornets snapped the Detroit Pistons’ four-game winning streak after triumphing 104-84 in the NBA on Monday.

The Pistons had accounted for the Los Angeles Lakers, Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets prior to tip-off in Charlotte.

But the Pistons came unstuck on the road as Hornets centre Zeller posted a game-high 20 points.

Hornets team-mate Marvin Williams provided support with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Kemba Walker (14), Nicolas Batum and Jeremy Lin (both 13) also had double-digit points.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (16) and Ersan Ilyasova (15, 13 rebounds) combined for 31 points for the Pistons.

 The San Antonio Spurs were without three of their starters but still humbled the sorry Philadelphia 76ers 119-68.

The Spurs rested Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Kawhi Leonard but LaMarcus Aldridge stepped up with 26 points as San Antonio extended their winning streak to four games.

Robert Covington, Nerlens Noel and Nik Stauskas had 13 points apiece for the Sixers, who dropped to 1-21.

DeAndre Jordan helped the Los Angeles Clippers past the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-106.

Jordan scored 20 points, collected 12 rebounds and tallied four blocks to lead the Clippers to their fifth win in six games.

Elsewhere, the Phoenix Suns rallied to beat the Chicago Bulls 103-101 and the Toronto Raptors bounced back to winning ways by seeing off the Los Angeles Lakers 102-93.

John Wall starred as the Washington Wizards trumped the Miami Heat 114-103, the Milwaukee Bucks edged the Portland Trail Blazers 90-88, the New Orleans Pelicans lost 111-93 to the Boston Celtics, while the Dallas Mavericks were 104-97 winners over the New York Knicks.
