How did Daniel Dubois secure victory over Anthony Joshua to retain IBF World Heavyweight title?

In a stunning display of power and dominance, Daniel Dubois retained his IBF world heavyweight title, knocking down Anthony Joshua multiple times before sealing victory in the fifth round at Wembley Stadium.

The 27-year-old Dubois outclassed the former two-time unified heavyweight champion from the outset, winning all five rounds decisively. Joshua, 34, was dropped in four of the five rounds as Dubois relentlessly piled on the pressure.

In a dramatic fifth round, Joshua momentarily seemed to gain some momentum after landing two solid right hands. However, just as he looked to capitalize, Dubois responded with successive right hands of his own, sending Joshua to the canvas once again. This time, the former champion was unable to beat the referee’s count, sealing Dubois’ victory.

“Are you not entertained?” Dubois roared to the roaring crowd at Wembley. “I’m a gladiator. I am a warrior to the bitter end. I want to get to the top level of this sport and reach my potential.”

The emphatic win strengthens Dubois’ standing in the heavyweight division, as he continues to carve a path toward facing the division’s biggest names.

Dubois was elevated to world champion status earlier in the year after Oleksandr Usyk vacated the IBF belt to focus on his rematch with Tyson Fury. Usyk had previously unified the heavyweight titles, becoming boxing’s first four-belt undisputed heavyweight champion in May 2024.

With this win, Dubois positions himself as a formidable contender for future heavyweight title unifications, while Joshua faces an uncertain future after suffering another crushing defeat.

With the crowd of over 90,000 fans witnessing the fight at Wembley, Dubois firmly cemented his place among the top heavyweights in the world.
