Ibom Angels FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Delta Queens on Wednesday, 19th March, in a Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) match at the Uyo Township Stadium.
The home team, coached by Edwin Okon, showed great determination throughout the game. Despite facing strong opposition from the more experienced Delta Queens, Ibom Angels kept pushing until the very end.
Their effort paid off in stoppage time when team captain Abasiofon Uwah scored the winning goal with a brilliant header. The late goal sealed all three points for Ibom Angels and gave them a strong position in the NWFL standings as the second stanza of the season gets underway.
Next week, Ibom Angels FC will take on another tough opponent, Rivers Angels, also at the Uyo Township Stadium.
SportsRations’ Nsikakabasi Akpan praised the fans’ support after the match. On his Facebook page, he wrote:
