How much has Jannik Sinner earned for Wimbledon win

Jannik Sinner’s first Wimbledon title didn’t just earn him a historic place in Italian tennis—it also came with a $4 million payday. The 23-year-old defeated Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz in four sets on Sunday to claim the prestigious championship and its record-breaking prize. But while the number is impressive, tax experts say Sinner won’t take all of it home.

How Much Will Sinner Actually Keep?

Wimbledon offers equal prize money for men’s and women’s champions—£3 million, or about $4.05 million. But players are taxed heavily by the UK government.

According to international tax consultants, Sinner’s winnings will be taxed at an estimated effective rate of 36.5%, meaning he’ll likely walk away with about $2.5 million.

However, unlike many athletes, Sinner won’t face any additional taxes in his home country of Italy. That’s because his primary residence is in Monaco, a well-known tax haven with zero income tax.

By comparison, Iga Świątek, the women’s champion, is expected to pay an extra 4% tax in Poland, cutting her take-home prize even further—to around $2.34 million.

Sinner’s Win at a Glance

  • Match score: 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4

  • Duration: 3 hours and 4 minutes

  • Grand Slam titles: 4 (Australian Open 2024 & 2025, US Open 2024, Wimbledon 2025)

  • Wimbledon 2025 prize money pool: $72.2 million (a 7% increase from last year)

Why Monaco?

Sinner isn’t alone in choosing Monaco as a base. Other top tennis players like Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, Holger Rune, and Stefanos Tsitsipas also live there, along with many Formula 1 stars. The principality offers a high standard of living—and zero income tax for residents.

What About Alcaraz?

As the runner-up, Carlos Alcaraz will earn $2 million. But after similar UK tax rates, he may keep around $1.2 million, depending on his personal tax situation.

Bottom line: Jannik Sinner may have lifted the Wimbledon trophy, but his bank account also got a huge boost—even after taxes. With smart planning and Monaco residency, he’ll keep more of his winnings than most.
