How Salah and I made Mane miss his penalty – Gabaski

The Egyptian goalkeeper also talked about his bottle listing Senegalese PK takers

Mohamed Abou Gabal (Gabaski) has explained what he and his captain Mo Salah did to make Saido Mane miss his penalty when Egypt played against Senegal at the Sunday AFCON final.

Five minutes into the final game in Cameroon, Senegal were awarded a penalty, and their star man Saido Mane prepared himself to take the penalty.

While he was getting ready to take the penalty, Mo Salah, Saido Mane club teammate was seen talking to his goalkeeper Mohamed Abou Gabal (Gabaski).

Then Saido Mane joined them and also pointed to a spot. It was evident from the live scene that Mo Salah was telling his national team goalkeeper how to approach his club mate penalty.

Saido Mane took the penalty and it was well saved by Mohamed Abou Gabal (Gabaski) who now revealed what transpired between the three of them.

“Mo Salah told me that Mane will take the penalty to my right and that he’ll come towards us now.

“And then Mane came and told me he’ll shoot it to the left, that was very clever from Salah, we distracted him successfully.”

Saido Mane was however very predictable as he hit hard the right as predicted by Mo Salah.

The Zamalek goalkeeper also talked about his bottle which was found on the pitch after the shootout containing the direction each Senegal penalty taker will place their balls.

“It contained stats of how players took penalties lately and it was Essam El Hadary’s idea”.
