‘How to beat Super Eagles’ – Rwanda coach reveals who he will meet for information

Rwanda will face Nigeria when the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers return. On how to beat the Super Eagles, Rwanda coach Torsten Splitter has revealed who he will meet for information.

Rwanda’s national football team is gearing up to capitalize on the Super Eagles’ current slump in form during the 2026 World Cup CAF qualifiers. With hopes of progressing from Group C, Rwanda finds themselves tied on points with South Africa, holding an edge in goal difference.

Head coach Torsten Frank Spittler revealed his strategy to enhance Rwanda’s chances by seeking advice from Gernot Rohr, the former coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles. Rohr, now managing Benin Republic, led his team to a historic 2-1 victory over Nigeria in the qualifiers, contributing to the Super Eagles’ disappointing four-game winless streak.

Speaking on Brila F.M, Spittler emphasised the importance of learning from Rohr’s recent success. “I am very sure we (me and Gernot Rohr) will have a phone call before; it may be two or three, and if he can tell me something, I will be stupid not to take it,” he stated, as reported by The Punch.

Spittler expressed confidence in their collaboration, highlighting their potential to support each other. “For that, we will try to be in contact; if possible, we can help each other; for sure, we will do it,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles, three-time African champions, find themselves facing challenges in their campaign. They are currently in fifth place in their group with just three points from four matches. Their recent loss to Benin compounded their woes, leading to the resignation of coach Finidi George.

As Rwanda prepares to face Nigeria, Spittler’s initiative to seek advice from Rohr points to their determination to capitalize on the Super Eagles’ vulnerabilities and secure a crucial victory in their quest for a historic World Cup qualification.
