‘I am here’ – Victor Osimhen responds to rumours about his future
Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen has confirmed that he will not join Chelsea during the January 2025 transfer window, reiterating his commitment to Galatasaray, where he is currently on loan from Napoli.
Osimhen’s statement comes amid intense speculation linking him with a potential transfer to Stamford Bridge. However, following his impressive performance in Galatasaray’s 2-1 victory over Besiktas in the Istanbul derby on Monday, 28th October 2024, Osimhen addressed rumours about his future. He told reporters, “Yes, I am here,’, signaling his intention to remain with the Turkish giants until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old striker has been in outstanding form, scoring in three consecutive Turkish Super Lig matches. His latest goal—a precise header in the 67th minute—secured a crucial win over Besiktas, extending Galatasaray’s lead to six points at the top of the table. Earlier, Osimhen had captivated fans with a memorable overhead kick against Antalyaspor.
With four goals and four assists in six appearances, Osimhen has quickly become a key figure in Okan Buruk’s Galatasaray side, who are leading the Turkish Super Lig standings with 28 points from 10 matches.
While Chelsea remain interested in the Nigerian star, their fans may have to wait until summer 2025 to see him in a blue jersey. The London club have already received endorsements from legends John Mikel Obi and Didier Drogba, both of whom believe Osimhen would be a perfect fit at Chelsea.
For now, Osimhen’s focus remains on Galatasaray, where he looks set to continue his fine run of form and help the club compete for the league title.
