“I did not give cars to Kano Pillars players” – Ahmed Musa reacts to viral reports

Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has denied reports claiming he gave cars to players and officials of Kano Pillars Football Club.

The false rumour, which started on social media, said Musa gave out luxury SUVs to mark his new role as General Manager of the club. The story spread quickly online, and many people praised Musa for the supposed gifts.

But on Tuesday afternoon, Musa took to his verified social media accounts to set the record straight.

“It has come to my attention that false information is being circulated claiming that I distributed cars to players and officials following my appointment as General Manager of Kano Pillars Football Club.

This claim is entirely untrue,” he wrote.

He urged the public and media to always confirm news from trusted sources before sharing it. He warned that spreading fake news harms the club’s image and misleads fans.

SportsRations’ Nsikakabasi Akpan had earlier spoke against the rumour. On Facebook, he posted: “When you come across news that Ahmed Musa has bought cars for all Kano Pillars FC players and officials, type FAKE NEWS.”

He added that Musa only started as General Manager on Monday and is focused on helping the club return to winning ways. There is no truth to the claim about car gifts.

A player currently in preseason with Kano Pillars, Chimeremenze Celestine, also denied the story: “It’s a big lie, I am here with Pillars and there is nothing like that.”

Investigations show that the photo being used to support the rumour is from an unrelated event and not from Kano Pillars.

This incident is another example of how fake news can quickly spread, especially when it involves popular figures like Musa. At 31 years old, he is a respected footballer and now a football leader, focused on building a strong and successful team.

Musa made it clear: there were no car gifts. His priority is to lead Kano Pillars to success, not to make headlines with false stories.
