‘ I don’t try to take all the praises ‘ – Osimhen dedicates Serie A Player of the Year award to teammates, others
Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen says he does not try to all the praises to himself and so has dedicated his 2023 Italian Serie A player of the year award to his Napoli teammates and others who contributed to the clubs scudetto win.
Osimhen was named 2023 AIC Italian Serie A best player award winner on Monday, December 4 in recognition of his outstnading performance in the 2022/2023 season.
The forward finished that season as Serie A top-scorer with 26-goals, helping Napoli SSC win the Serie A title in the process.
At the Player’s award ceremony, Osimhen was honoured as the best player of the season but has shared the honours with his teammates with particular mention of Kvaratskhelia.
“The people that know me know that I don’t try to get all the praises to myself, ” Osimhen said after receiving the award.
” For me personally, I’m a team player, and I believe if I could share this award, I will share it with Kvaratskhelia and the rest of my teammates because we deserve it.
“We were instrumental to each other towards last seasons success. This award goes to the rest if my teammates, the ones that are here and the ones that are not here.
He added “It also goes to Mr Spalletti, De Laurentiis, and everyone that works in Napoli. The fans deserve it and this award represents the whole of Napoli. I’m proud to win this, and it is the most important thing for me now.”
