“I Love Cristiano Ronaldo” – Wayne Rooney Declares

Wayne Rooney has said he has a lot of love and respect for Cristiano Ronaldo, and he doesn’t understand why some fans think otherwise.
The former Manchester United and England striker made the statement while speaking to Rio Ferdinand on his podcast. Rooney said that despite choosing Lionel Messi as a better player in the past, he still thinks Ronaldo is a “genius” and loved playing with him.
“People think I hate him [Ronaldo]. I love him,” Rooney said.
“I think he’s an absolute genius, and what he’s done in football is incredible. I really enjoyed playing with him.”
Rooney explained that he and Ronaldo were very close during their time at Manchester United and had no problems with each other. They played together for five years under Sir Alex Ferguson, winning many trophies.
“Just because I said Messi is better, people think I don’t like Cristiano,” Rooney added.
“But Ronaldo’s a killer on the pitch. I respect him a lot.”
The only time the two had a well-known disagreement was during the 2006 World Cup. In a match between England and Portugal, Ronaldo was accused of helping to get Rooney sent off. Despite that moment, their friendship remained strong at club level.
Rooney also described Ronaldo as a “football genius” and a “killer” in front of goal, praising his hunger and success throughout his career.
