I picked John Noble on Finidi George’s recommendation – Austin Eguavoen

Austin Eguavoen has revealed that his selection of John Noble as the replacement for Maduka Okoye was influenced by Finidi George.

The interim Super Eagles manager revealed that he the 28-year-old goalkeeper was recommended by his coach Finidi George.

The selection of John Noble has received mixed reactions from fans who questioned the decision to pick the Enyimba goalie when he is not even the first choice at his club.

Others argued that there are better goalkeepers in the Nigeria Professional Football League such as Olorunleke Ojo, Suraj Ayeleso, Abiodun Akande, Victor Sochima, and Stanley Nwabali who are more deserving than Noble.

But coach Eguavoen has dismissed the claims and also the report that John Noble is currently injured.

“Noble is another player that has been criticized by the media, said Eguavoen.

“But the young man is not injured as reported and he has featured in Enyimba’s last four games.

“I picked him based his last four games after my colleague Finidi George recommended him highly.

“He is not injured. He was actually subbed in their last game against Wikki Tourist FC and medically he was cleared that is why he is with us”.

Ojo Olorunleke has kept the most games for Enyimba but for some reason, John Noble has been used by Finidi George in Enyimba’s last four games.
