” I want to play for Nigeria at the AFCON ” – Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali reveals
Chippa United FC goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali has revealed he wants to play for Nigeria at the 2023 AFCON in Egypt. SportsRation reports.
The former Enyimba FC and Wikki Tourist goalie was blessed to have Super Eagles coach, watch him during a league game in South Africa and so is a possible invitee for the controversy ridden goalkeeping position for the Eagles.
” I wish to get a call-up but it’s not compulsory. It’s not by my performance because everyone is doing well in different clubs, other goalkeepers have been doing well in their clubs,” Nwabili told iDiski Times.
“If you are called up to your national team, kudos to you but I wish to represent my own country. I wish to wear my country’s jersey. I wish to wear it again.
“I went there before and I wish to wear it again in a nice tournament. That’s my wish.”
Nwabili has made just one appearance for the Super Eagles and is one of the new goalkeepers considered as replacement for error-prone Omonia Nicosia goalie Francis Uzoho .
