Ibom Angels arrive home to Governors welcome following NWFL promotion

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, warmly welcomed the players and officials of Ibom Angels Football Club following their triumph in the Women’s Second Division Football League Championship, which concluded yesterday in Calabar.

Ibom Angels secured one of two coveted promotion spots to the top tier of Nigerian women’s football, the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), with a commanding 2-0 victory over Osun Babes of Osogbo in the semi-final play-off, witnessed by a capacity crowd at the U. J. Esuene Stadium.

During a brief but lively reception at Uyo Township Stadium on Monday, Governor Eno, represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Sir Monday Uko, hailed the team as shining ambassadors of his ARISE agenda. He emphasized that the state government remains committed to youth development, aiming to make them self-reliant, resourceful, and productive.
