Ibom Angels Maintain Fine Form, Thrash Elegant Angels 5-0 in Pre-Season Friendly

Ibom Angels continued their impressive pre-season form with another dominant display, defeating Elegant Angels of Ikono 5-0 in a friendly match at the Uyo Township Stadium on Monday afternoon.
The win means the Uyo-based side have now scored ten goals without conceding in two matches, following last Friday’s 5-0 victory over Efilay Babes U15 boys.
Elegant Angels, who will represent Akwa Ibom State in the upcoming Senate President Cup in Abuja, started the game with determination but struggled to contain the superior quality of their opponents.
Esther Ifeoma opened the scoring for Ibom Angels in the first half, tapping in Angela Okechi’s cross for her third goal in two matches.
Head coach Edwin Okon made nine changes at half-time, and the substitutes made an instant impact. Sandra Ifunaya doubled the lead with a close-range finish from Joy Dick’s low cross before Uduakobong Peter struck with a left-footed volley. Mmesoma Uchendu added a fourth with a composed finish into the far post, and Joy Dick wrapped up the scoring after a fumble from the Elegant Angels’ goalkeeper.
The Executive Chairman of Ikono Local Government Area, Engineer Otobong Essien, was among the spectators and commended both teams after the match, urging them to continue representing Akwa Ibom with pride.
Ibom Angels will begin their 2025/2026 NWFL Premiership campaign on November 26 with an away fixture against Naija Ratels in Abuja, while Elegant Angels will also head to the capital to compete in the Senate President Cup starting November 7.
