Ighalo joins Saudi Arabian Pro League club Al Wedha
Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo has joined Saudi Arabian Pro League Club Al Wedha SC, the club announced on Tuesday August 15.
A free agent since he left Al Hilal at the end of the 2022/2023 Saudi Arabian Pro League season, Ighalo has chosen to continue life in the middle east.
“A new Eagle in the ranks of the Knights. Welcome Ighalo,” reads a message on the Al Wedha SC official Twitter handle announcing the Nigerian strikers arrival.
Ighalo represents a massive addition to Giorgios Dinos Al Wedha SC squad, with his experience and pedigree as a proven goalscorer.
The former Manchester United FC forward has already enjoyed rewarding spells in Saudi Arabia with Al Shabab and Al Hilal with whom he won the League and Kings Cup titles plus representing AFC at two FIFA Club World Cup’s.
Ighalo’s new club Al Wedha started the 2023/2024 Saudi Arabian Pro League season with a 1-0 away loss to Al Riyadh, Greek manager Dinos will hope to get his new goalgetter in shape for matchday two action.
On Friday August 18, Al Wedha SC will face Ighalo’s former club Al Shabab in front of their home fans and the Nigerian striker will potentially get a debut vs his former employees.
