Iheanacho’s impressive debut overshadowed by injury scare

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho put in a show in spent in Leicester City to a 2-1 comeback victory over Borussia Monchengladbach at the King Power Stadium before he was taken off because of an injury.

Before his introduction in the 66th minute, the former Premier League champions were trailing by a goal scored by Thorgan Hazard but soon after the Foxes record buy came in, things began to change as the Foxes started piling pressure on the German side and immediately got their equalizer through Jamie Vardy.

7 minutes after the equalizer, Iheanacho found space in the box after he was played on by reigning African footballer of the year Mahrez, he danced in the box before setting up Vardy for his second goal of the night.

Iheanacho had a somewhat good debut and could have scored a goal himself if not for the sliding tackle which resulted in his withdrawal from the match 18 minutes after he came on.

But Foxes boss Craig Shakespeare later insisted the star signing’s withdrawal was only precautionary.

“I am still looking to find out, I don’t know whether it is ankle or Achilles – but he seems fine,” said Shakespeare.

“The first thing is the physios and they aren’t showing great concern, which is a good sign.”
