Ihezuo Targets WAFCON Golden Boot After Super Falcons’ 5-0 Win

The Super Falcons had five different scorers in their 5-0 victory over Zambia in Casablanca yesterday.
Pachuca Femeni striker, Chiwendu Veronica Ihezuo, is now aiming for the WAFCON 2024 Golden Boot. The 28-year-old has scored in all three of Nigeria’s matches so far, including her third goal of the tournament in the big win over Zambia.
As the Super Falcons prepare for the semi-finals, Ihezuo says her focus is on scoring more goals to help Justin Madugu’s team achieve Mission X.
“First of all, I thank God for today’s victory and for the efforts of my teammates,” said the former Monterrey Women forward in her post-match interview with Ademola Victor.
“I’m speechless. After scoring three goals, my aim is to keep scoring, keep going, and never give up. The team inspired me; my morale was so high when I scored that I didn’t even know how to celebrate because I was overjoyed.”
She added: “I want Nigerians to keep supporting us with everything they have. We promise not to let them down. We will make them proud.”
Ihezuo is just one goal behind the current top scorers, Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak and Senegal’s Nguenar Ndiaye, who both have four goals.
The Super Falcons will face the winner of the quarter-final between South Africa and Senegal. The match will take place later today at 8:00 PM WAT.
