Immortality Fc knock USDEC Academy Out of the 2022 Akwa Ibom State FA Cup.
Immortality Football club were 3-2 victors over USDEC academy in match number 3 of the 2022 Akwa Ibom state FA Cup.
Immortality Fc arrived the match venue stylishly cladded in Black suites a move which won them the support of majority of the fans at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio international stadium Uyo ahead of the 2pm kickoff.
Backed by a cheering support cast , Immortality Fc began the game like a house on fire. The spirit boys dominated possession with their Skipper Andiyanga Ekpenyong’s dazzling moves a delight to watch.
Andiyanga Ekpenyong came close to opening the scoring in the 20th minute for Immortality Fc but his header was inches off the target.
In the 24th minute Immortality Fc had the ball in the net following a goal mouth scramble but it was rightly chucked off as the Assistant Referee Bassey Maculay had his flag up for a hand ball in the build up .
Immortality Fc continued to pile pressure and got a deserved lead when Dominic Bone tapped home from 6 yards after the opposition Goalkeeper fumbled the ball into his path in the 40th minute. It finished Immortality Fc One USDEC academy nil at halftime.
Immortality Fc added a second four minutes after the break. Skipper Andiyanga Ekpenyong produced a moment of magic with a lovely chip from 35yards. USDEC Goalkeeper keeper Milverton Umoh was dazed and scrambled the ball from his save in the way of David Udotinwang who pounced on the opportunity to put Immortality Fc 2 goals up.
In the 75th minute Immortality Fc were 3 goals ahead. Substitute Ebetobong Sunday slammed home off a cross. Everything went well for the spirit boys until the tensed final 15 minutes that followed .
Edikan Essien converted from from the spot for USDEC academy in the 78th minute for 3-1. USDEC academy took over possession, piling pressure in search of more goals to rescue their FA Cup journey
USDEC academy scored a second in the final seconds of the match. Their hopes of a dramatic comeback was dashed as Referee Akaniyene Udoette signalled for the end of the match a minute later. It finished 3-2 in favour of the Prophet Ubong James sponsored Immortality Fc who progress to the next round of the competition.
The Akwa Ibom state FA Cup continues tomorrow Wednesday 2nd June 2022 . NNL club Ibom Youths Fc will take on Nationwide League One side ALGON boys Fc at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International stadium by 4pm.
