Indiana Fever vs. Atlanta Dream sets WNBA Viewership Record
The WNBA just had its biggest cable audience ever.
The Indiana Fever’s dramatic 95-91 overtime win over the Atlanta Dream on August 16 drew 2.6 million viewers on ESPN, making it the most-watched WNBA game ever on cable.
The broadcast peaked at 4 million viewers, while the average audience was up 178% compared with ESPN’s average WNBA regular-season game last year.
And the game had plenty to keep viewers watching.
Indiana and Atlanta went into overtime after a late miss by Angel Reese gave the Fever another chance to take control. Indiana eventually pulled away in the extra period.
It is a good sign of the growing interest around the WNBA. Fever games now the league’s most-watched broadcasts on ESPN and ION.
