Injured Chukwueze Set for New Manager at AC Milan After Fonseca’s Exit
Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze is about to work under his third coach at AC Milan, as Paulo Fonseca was sacked following a 1-1 draw with Roma on Sunday, December 29.
Fonseca’s Struggles at Milan
Fonseca, who joined Milan in June on a three-year contract, replaced Stefano Pioli with high expectations. However, his tenure was marked by inconsistent performances. The Rossoneri managed only 12 wins in 24 matches under him, with six losses and six draws.
Milan currently sit in 8th place in Serie A, eight points away from the Champions League spots, with six league draws this season. The 1-1 result against Roma was the final straw for the club’s management.
Despite their struggles in the league, Milan remain in the Champions League, where they are on track for a knockout play-off spot.
Sergio Conceicao Tipped as Replacement
Reports in Italy suggest that former Porto manager Sergio Conceicao is set to take over at Milan. Conceicao, who won 11 trophies with Porto, including three Primeira Liga titles, is expected to bring stability to the team. His first match could be a tough clash against Juventus on January 3.
Injury Woes for Chukwueze
Chukwueze’s challenges continue as he suffered a suspected hamstring injury during the draw with Roma, leaving the pitch in visible discomfort. The extent of the injury is not yet known.
This setback comes at a difficult time for Milan, who are already missing key players like Rafael Leao, Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Yunus Musah, and Noah Okafor. Chukwueze’s injury adds to the Rossoneri’s growing list of absentees, posing a challenge for the incoming manager.
As Milan navigate a tough season, Chukwueze and the team will hope for a swift recovery and a fresh start under new leadership.
