Injured Rodri Helps Coach Man City Teammates, Says Guardiola

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has praised injured midfielder Rodri for playing a helpful role off the pitch as he recovers from a serious knee injury.

Rodri has been out since September after tearing his cruciate ligament, but that hasn’t stopped him from supporting his teammates during their important matches.

Ahead of City’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa, the Spanish midfielder was seen in the dressing room offering advice to the players. Guardiola revealed that Rodri has taken on a bit of a coaching role while he continues his recovery.

“I love that. When players are injured, I let them take on the manager role,” Guardiola said.

“Rodri understands the holding midfield position perfectly, and he’s been helping the players in that area.”

Guardiola said this kind of involvement builds a stronger bond within the squad and creates a team spirit that can make a real difference.

“It’s what makes a team special — when those who can’t play are still involved and helping those who can,” he added.

Rodri has also started light training with the team, and Guardiola says the midfielder is eager to return to action.
