Injury Delays Josh Nichols’ Loan Move from Arsenal
Arsenal defender Josh Nichols has suffered an injury that will keep him out for a while. The 18-year-old was set to play in a friendly match against Marseille II last weekend, but he had to miss the game due to the injury.
Nichols had been playing mostly as a left-back recently, but he is expected to return to his usual position of right-back once he is healthy again. This is especially important after Josh Robinson’s recent move to Wigan.
Nichols is known for his ability to play in different defensive roles and has impressed in his six appearances for the Arsenal U21 team this season in Premier League 2.
He has also been part of the senior team, making his debut in a Carabao Cup win over Bolton Wanderers. He was later named on the bench for games against Preston, Leicester, Liverpool, and West Ham in the Premier League.
Because of his good performances, Nichols was reportedly attracting interest from European clubs for a possible loan move this January. However, this injury will likely stop those plans for now.
The Arsenal U21s will play Norwich City away on Monday as they continue their season.
