Injury woes continue for Lakers as Christian Wood is ruled out for regular season
Los Angeles Lakers’ big man, Christian Wood, faced another setback in his recovery journey as he has been ruled out for at least the remainder of the regular season following arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.
The procedure took place on Tuesday at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, leaving the Lakers without one of their key depth players.
Wood, who has been sidelined since February 14, underwent the surgery with no specified timeline provided by the Lakers for his recovery.
However, given the nature of the injury and the timing of the procedure, it is expected that Wood will miss the rest of the regular season, according to reports from the Associated Press.
The absence of Wood adds to the Lakers’ injury woes, further depleting their depth as they approach the final stretch of the season.
Alongside Wood, veterans Jarred Vanderbilt, Gabe Vincent, and Cam Reddish are also unavailable, leaving a noticeable gap in the supporting cast around star players LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Vanderbilt has been sidelined since February 1 due to a sprained right foot, while Vincent has been dealing with a knee injury sustained in October, limiting him to just five games this season. The Lakers have not provided a timeline for their return, indicating a prolonged absence.
Meanwhile, Reddish, known for his defensive prowess, has been out since March 8 with an ankle injury. Despite his absence, the Lakers remain hopeful for Reddish’s imminent return, providing a glimmer of hope amid their injury-riddled roster.
