Inter Miami have completed the signing of former Barcelona, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid superstar Luis Suarez on a one-year deal.
El Pistolero, as Suarez is commonly known, has joined Inter Miami for free after running down his contract with Brasileirao Serie A outfit Gremio at the end of the league season in Brazil.
Luis Suarez becomes the fourth former Barcelona player to join Inter Miami this year after Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. Manager Gerardo Martino was also in charge of the Catalan side in 2013.
Suarez has been handed the number 9 shirt at the DRV PNK Stadium, where he will look to win more trophies with his close friend and teammate Messi.
Luis Suarez, 36, scored 17 goals and provided 11 assists in 33 league appearances for Gremio in the just-concluded season. The Uruguayan striker won the League’s Golden Ball as the Player of the Season as Gremio finished second behind Endrick’s Palmeiras.
Suarez played alongside Lionel Messi, Busquets and Alba for six seasons between 2014 and 2020 in the colours of Barcelona, and will continue his career with them now halfway around the world.
Inter Miami have replaced striker Josef Martinez, whose contract expired at the end of the regular season, with Suarez. They will now look to win more silverware this season.
