Isco Apologises to Real Madrid Fans After Celebrating Goal Against His Former Club
Real Betis captain Isco has issued an apology to Real Madrid fans for his celebration after scoring in his team’s 2-1 victory over Madrid on Saturday in La Liga.
Betis came from a goal behind to defeat Madrid at the Estadio Benito Villamarin. Brahim Diaz had given Madrid the lead, but former Real Madrid player Isco scored the winning goal for Betis.
Johnny Cardoso had equalised for Betis before halftime with a header, and in the second half, Isco converted a 54th-minute penalty after Antonio Rudiger fouled Jesus Rodriguez. He celebrated passionately in front of the home fans after scoring, which led to a strong reaction from some Madrid supporters.
“I apologise to Real Madrid fans for my celebration,” Isco said after the match. “I am very grateful to Real Madrid, and they will always be in my heart.”
The win saw Real Betis move up to sixth in the La Liga standings, while Real Madrid remain in third place, behind Barcelona and leaders Atletico Madrid.
