Islamiyat Adebukola wins Bronze for for Team Nigeria at the 2022 Commonwealth Games

Weightlifting has again added to Nigeria’s medal haul at the 2022 Commonwealth games. Islamiyat Adebukola Yusuf has won a bronze medal in the 64kg event .

 

19 year old Islamiyat Adebukola lifted a combined total of 212kg from both fhe snatch and clean and jerk to finish 3rd in the women’s weightlifting 64kg event.

 

Weightlifting has thus produced Nigeria’s 4 medals yet at the 2022 Commonwealth games in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

 

Olarinoye Adenike Adijat won Nigeriao first medal at the 2022 Commonwealth games , a Gold medal in the 55kg women’s weightlifting event .

 

Edidiong Umofia added a Bronze in the 65kg men’s weightlifting event before Rafiatu Folashade Lawal smashed three records to win Gold in the women’s 59kg weightlifting event on Sunday July 31.

 

Team Nigeria finished the 2018 Commonwealth games with 24 medals and still have a chance of equalling and surpassing the tally in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
