Israel Adesanya meets Alex Pereira at UFC 312
At UFC 312 in Sydney, Israel Adesanya, known as the “Stylebender” from Nigeria, made peace with his long-time rival, Brazil’s Alex Pereira.
The two fighters, who have had a bitter rivalry for years, were seen sitting next to each other at the event. A selfie of the pair, smiling together, quickly went viral after being shared online.
Adesanya and Pereira have fought four times – twice in MMA and twice in kickboxing. In kickboxing, Pereira won both fights, but in MMA, the two have one win each.
Adesanya remains the middleweight champion, while Pereira has moved up to become the light heavyweight champion.
In other news, Adesanya’s famous 2019 bout with Kelvin Gastelum will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2025. The fight, which took place at UFC 236 in Atlanta, was for the interim middleweight title and is remembered as one of the greatest in UFC history.
