Israel Adesanya prepared for UFC 305 fight against Dricus du Plessis

Nigeria’s MMA star, Israel Adesanya, is set for a high-stakes battle against South Africa’s Dricus du Plessis at UFC 305. The middleweight championship bout will take place on August 18 at Perth’s RAC Arena.

Adesanya, who was born in Nigeria but spent much of his childhood in New Zealand, has been preparing intensively for this fight. He views this matchup as more than just a title defense; it’s also a response to du Plessis’ controversial comments questioning the African heritage of fighters like Francis Ngannou and Kamaru Usman.

In a recent press conference, Adesanya expressed his frustration over du Plessis’ remarks. “Du Plessis said he wants to be the ‘first real African champ,’ which is disrespectful to me and other African-born fighters. I’m going to show him where he comes from,” Adesanya stated.

Du Plessis later attempted to retract his comments, but Adesanya was not satisfied. In a light-hearted retort, du Plessis joked about sending Adesanya back to his newfound hobby of barefoot golf.

Israel Adesanya has been on a rigorous training regimen after a nearly year-long break from UFC competition to recover from a busy fight schedule. Now, refreshed and ready, he is eager to defend his title and prove his heritage.

The anticipation for the Adesanya vs. du Plessis fight is building, and fans are looking forward to an exciting clash in Perth.
