‘It will be a privilege to represent Nigeria’ – French-based striker waiting for Super Eagles call-up

French striker Akor Adams has shared his strong desire to play for the Nigerian national team.

The 24-year-old, who currently plays for Montpellier in France’s Ligue 1, spoke about his dream of representing Nigeria while focusing on his current role at his club. He believes his hard work there will help him earn a place in the national team.

In an interview with Tribal Football, Adams explained how important it is for him to play for Nigeria, a dream shared by many Nigerian footballers.

“It’s a dream for every Nigerian footballer to play for the Super Eagles, and it is for me as well,” he said, recognising the honour of a national team call-up.

Adams stays focused on improving his game at Montpellier, hoping that strong performances will lead to a chance with Nigeria.

“I try to focus on what I can do for my club and work hard on my game. It’s important to me. It would be a great privilege to represent Nigeria at senior level. I am just waiting for the time,” he said.

He also praised the talent of Nigeria’s current strikers and expressed his readiness to take any opportunity to play for his country.

“I recognise that Nigeria has top strikers right now. Football is about opportunity, and you have to keep improving and trust your own process, which I do,” Adams added.

“If the chance comes, I need to be ready to perform. That is the most important thing.”

Having previously played for the Flying Eagles, Adams stressed that he is not focused on when his call-up will happen but on being ready when the opportunity arises.

“I am not concerned with when it will come, but with being prepared to take it. Credit to the strikers who are doing well for Nigeria and their clubs,” he said.

This season, Adams has made an impact in Ligue 1, scoring three goals and providing two assists in eleven matches across all competitions.
