Learner Tien has reached his first US Open Round of 16 after an incredible comeback against Jakub Mensik, winning 6-3, 1-6, 6-7(2), 6-3, 6-4.

The victory makes Tien the youngest American man to reach the US Open fourth round since Andy Roddick in 2002. He also improved his record in five-set matches to a perfect 5-0 and claimed his sixth Top-20 win of 2026.

After falling two sets to one down, Tien found another level as the New York crowd stayed behind him throughout the battle.

“I wanna thank everyone here for staying this late. I think if this stadium was empty I’m really not sure if I’d win this match tonight. I’m very very grateful for everyone who stayed tonight. Thank you.” ❤️
