#ITTFWorlds2021: Bode beaten as Quadri battles Gnanasekaran in round 32

Nigeria’s Bode Abiodun has been beaten in the round 64 at the 2021 ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals.

Abiodun defeated Anthony Amalraj 4-3 in the first round to book a place in the round of 64 against Tomislav Pucar.

But could not find the next gear against highly ranked Pucar.

Pucar was too good for Bode as he won in straight sets 11-7 11-6 11-8 11-6.

But he and Omotayo Olajide would be in action later today in the men’s doubles.

Meanwhile, Aruna Quadri who secured a 4-0 win in the first round game against Aliaksandr Khanin, and a 4-2 win against Vitor Ishiy will now play Sathiyan Gnanasekaran in round 32.

Aruna Quadri is the only African player left in the men’s single and could book a place in the last 16 with a win against the Indian.

History on the side of Aruna Quadri who was victorious in straight sets in his last game against Sathiyan Gnanasekaran.
