Iwobi Misses Out as Fernandes Wins Premier League Player of the Month Award

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has missed out on the English Premier League Player of the Month award for March, with Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United taking the honour.
Iwobi was in fine form during the month, delivering strong displays for Fulham. The Nigerian midfielder helped his side secure two wins and one draw in four league matches. He also scored the decisive goal in Fulham’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on March 1.
His impressive outings earned him a place on the shortlist alongside Fernandes, James Garner, Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Gordon, David Raya, and Danny Welbeck.
However, Fernandes emerged as the winner after an outstanding run of performances. The Portuguese playmaker recorded two goals and four assists in four matches in March, underlining his influence for Manchester United. So far this season, he has contributed eight goals and 16 assists in the league.
At 31, Fernandes continues to perform at a high level, drawing comparisons with his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo.
Despite missing out on the award, Iwobi can take encouragement from his nomination, which reflects his growing impact in the Premier League. Fulham manager Marco Silva will be counting on him as the club push for a strong finish to the season.
Fulham are currently ninth on the table with 44 points, just two points behind Brentford in seventh place. With seven matches left, the London club remain in contention for a European spot, and Iwobi’s form could prove crucial in their pursuit of continental football.
