Iwobi rues Fulham loss vs Man United despite dominant performance
Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi has rued Fulham FC’s loss to Manchester United despite being the dominate side especially in the second half.
Iwobi was in action for 89-minutes and featured significantly before going off for Raul Gimenez just before United struck the winner.
Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandez scored in stoppage time to hand his team all three points in a game Iwobi believes his side deserved a share of the spoils.
“Of course it’s difficult to take,” Iwobi told the club’s official website.
“We had the opportunities to get a goal and we felt like we were on top of them as well, we dominated, especially in the second half.
“But we just have to go again, put this to rest, analyse and take the positives into the next game.
“We played well. The fighting spirit was there, we created many chances, we did well with the ball.
“Like I said, I feel like in the second half we dominated much more, so we just have to take that into the next game.
“We analysed them well and I feel like it was a good performance, but it’s the small details that win the game and unfortunately Man United took all three points.”
When asked what those small details were, Iwobi replied: “Maybe for us to stay composed in the final third.
“Especially in the second half, we created a lot of opportunities, and then probably the vital moment at the end, just to remain composed and just get rid of the ball.
“But everyone worked really hard, it was just that little bit at the end that made the difference.”
The game vs Manchester United FC was the Nigeria international’s seventh league appearance for the Whites following his summer arrival from Everton.
Fulham will travel away to Aston Villa for their next Premier League game on Sunday one that will give way to the International break.
