Janne Andersson tipped to become Super Eagles head coach
Former Sweden manager Janne Andersson is reportedly set to take over as the new coach of the Super Eagles, according to reports.
The 61-year-old tactician has a distinguished career, including leading the Swedish national team to qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Andersson’s appointment would mark the second time a Swedish coach has led the Super Eagles, following Lars Lagerback.
Per SCORENIGERIA, Andersson’s selection represents a shift from the previously shortlisted candidates, indicating the NFF’s preference for his managerial experience and proven track record of success.
Although he lacks experience in African football, his overall credentials make him an intriguing choice for the role.
The NFF has not yet officially confirmed Andersson’s appointment. However, sources close to the federation suggest that an announcement is imminent.
Andersson’s immediate task will be to guide Nigeria through the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers which beins in September.
