Jannik Sinner Aims for Success in Beijing After US Open Final Loss

Jannik Sinner is the top seed at the ATP 500 tennis tournament in Beijing. The world number 2 is hoping to win his second title in China’s capital, after losing last year’s exciting final to Carlos Alcaraz.

The Italian will face Marin Cilic in his opening match. He hopes to use what he learned at the US Open to do better during the Asian swing of the tour. Since losing to Alcaraz in the final in New York, Jannik has been working on small but important parts of his game.

The 24-year-old has been focusing on improving his serve and other technical areas. These changes are already showing some positive signs during training. Still, Sinner understands that progress takes time.

He expects to make a few more mistakes at the start of the tournament as he tries to bring these changes into real matches. But for Jannik, learning and improving is just as important as winning.

He’s not rushing. Instead, he’s trusting the process and the guidance of his coaching team. Sinner believes that these small changes will help him achieve bigger goals in the future, like winning more major titles and doing better against his main rival, Carlos Alcaraz.

Sinner will return to action on Thursday when he plays against Cilic. He’s especially focused on improving his serve, which was one of his weaker points during the US Open.

Speaking about the changes, Sinner said:
“We’ve spent time thinking about the US Open final and have started working on the small details in my game. I might make more mistakes in the next few matches, but that’s normal. I feel good during training with these new things. Now we just need to see how long it takes to bring it into matches. I’m motivated to keep working.”
