Jannik Sinner defends Australian Open Crown

Jannik Sinner solidified his place at the top of men’s tennis with an outstanding win over Alexander Zverev to claim his second consecutive Australian Open title and third Grand Slam trophy. The Italian World No. 1 delivered a flawless performance, winning 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-3 in Melbourne on Sunday.

Sinner’s victory placed him in elite company as one of only eight players in the Open Era to win the first three Grand Slam finals they contested. Reflecting on the match, Sinner said, “It feels incredible to win here again. My team and I worked tirelessly to achieve this, and I couldn’t be happier.”

The 23-year-old praised Zverev for his effort, saying, “Sascha, you’re an amazing player. Keep believing in yourself. I know your time will come, and you’ll lift one of these trophies soon.”

Sinner’s ability to dominate on hard courts has been remarkable. This win extended his unbeaten streak at hard-court Grand Slams to 21 matches. His precision and resilience were fully displayed during the game, particularly in the second-set tiebreak, where a net-cord winner tilted the momentum in his favor. “Moments like that are part of the game, and I’m just grateful to have come through,” Sinner commented.

Zverev, seeking his first Grand Slam, struggled to find a way past Sinner’s relentless defense and consistent shot-making. Despite the loss, the German fought valiantly, with Sinner consoling him after the match. “He’s a great competitor and will have many more chances,” Sinner noted.

As the youngest back-to-back Australian Open winner since Jim Courier (1992-1993), Sinner continues to inspire fans worldwide with his talent, humility, and sportsmanship.
