Joe Hart Praises Fulham’s Recruitment Strategy, Highlights Alex Iwobi’s Impact
Former England and Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has praised Fulham for their smart player signings, particularly pointing to Arsenal Academy graduate Alex Iwobi as a key example.
Along with Iwobi, Fulham has also brought in former Arsenal players like Bernd Leno, Emile Smith Rowe, and Reiss Nelson, as well as others such as Joachim Andersen, Timothy Castagne, Andreas Pereira, Adama Traoré, Calvin Bassey, and Raúl Jiménez in recent years.
These signings have played a big role in Fulham’s strong Premier League form under manager Marco Silva. The team has only lost one of their last eleven games and is close to reaching their best-ever points total after 20 games in the top division.
Iwobi has been in great form this season, contributing to eight goals in 19 appearances. Under Silva’s guidance, the Nigerian has become a key player in his second season at Fulham.
On BBC Radio 5 Live, Hart said: “Marco Silva has done well with Fulham’s recruitment. He’s brought in players who hadn’t done so well before in the Premier League. Alex Iwobi is a great example. He showed talent at Arsenal, had some ups and downs at Everton, but now at Fulham, he’s playing really well and taking charge.”
Iwobi spent 15 years at Arsenal before moving to Everton for £35 million and later joined Fulham in the summer of 2023. He scored 15 goals and provided 21 assists in 149 appearances for Arsenal, winning the FA Cup and Community Shield before leaving in 2019. His departure followed the £72 million signing of Nicolas Pepe, which made room for new players at the club.
