John Terry Reveals Why He Won’t Get the Chance to Manage Chelsea Anytime Soon
Chelsea legend John Terry has admitted he is unlikely to land his dream job as the club’s manager anytime soon, SportsRation reports.
Terry, who currently works with the Chelsea academy, has always dreamed of managing the Blues, but says it’s not realistic at the moment.
Speaking in an interview with talkSPORT, the former Chelsea captain explained that his lack of experience as a head coach is holding him back from getting the top job at Stamford Bridge.
“I still have a dream. I’d love to manage Chelsea one day,” Terry said. “But does that happen without me working my way up through the other levels first? No, it probably doesn’t. So, realistically, it’s not going to happen for me anytime soon.”
Terry has already completed his coaching badges and spent time as an assistant manager at Aston Villa. Despite being prepared for a managerial role, he admits the chances of taking charge of Chelsea soon are slim.
“I’m ready. If the right opportunity comes up, I’ll go for it,” he added. “But for now, I’m happy doing what I’m doing.”
The 43-year-old made 717 appearances for Chelsea during his playing career, winning 15 major trophies, including five Premier League titles. Many fans had hoped he would follow in the footsteps of his former teammate Frank Lampard by managing the club one day.
But for now, Terry seems to accept that the dream will have to wait.
