Jorge Jesus Compares Osimhen With Haaland

Portugal coach Jorge Jesus has compared Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen with Manchester City star Erling Haaland.

Jesus made the comparison before Portugal faced Norway in the UEFA Nations League at the Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo on Sunday.

Haaland was Norway’s biggest threat going into the match. The Manchester City striker has scored 65 goals in 57 appearances for his country.

Speaking about Haaland’s qualities, Jesus said the Norwegian striker is one of the strongest players in the world inside the box.

He also placed Osimhen in the same class as Haaland when it comes to their strength and ability in front of goal.

“Haaland is the most physically and technically powerful player inside the box,” Jesus said.

“Outside the area, he isn’t quite as dominant, even though he is fast. But inside the box, for me, he and Osimhen are the strongest in the world.”

Portugal went on to beat Norway 2-1, although Haaland scored Norway’s only goal.

Haaland And Osimhen Compared

Haaland and Osimhen are both known for their speed, strength, aerial ability and finishing.

However, Haaland has produced better numbers in recent years. At 26, the Manchester City striker has scored 371 goals for club and country, while Osimhen has 214 career goals.

Injuries have also affected Osimhen more regularly during his career, while Haaland has generally enjoyed better fitness and more playing time.

Haaland has also won major trophies with Manchester City, including the UEFA Champions League and Premier League titles.

Osimhen, meanwhile, currently plays for Galatasaray in Turkey.

Despite the differences in their careers, both strikers remain among the leading goalscorers of their generation.
