Jose Mourinho leads AS Roma to Europa League Final
Jose Mourinho has led AS Roma to the final of the 2022/2023 UEFA Europa League following a 0-0 semi-final score vs Bayer Leverkusen to go through 1-0 on aggregate.
To reach a consecutive European club competition final under Jose Mourinho, AS Roma frustrated German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen in the second leg decided on Thursday night.
Managed by Mourinho`s former player Xabi Alonso, Leverkusen dominated proceedings but could not find a way past a typical Jose Mourinho drilled Roma team who were content repelling the opposition attacks in defence of the 1-0 aggregate advantage.
His sixth European club competition final, Jose Mourinho will target success in the Europa League final just like he has done whenever he appears at this stage.
AS Roma will now face Spanish side Sevilla who edged Serie A club Juventus in the other semi-final clash.
Eric Lamela scored an extra-time winner to see Sevilla past Juventus after a 1-1 regulation left the contest tied on a 2-2 aggregate result.
Sevilla won 3-2 to reach the final of the UEFA Europa League on May 30 at the Puskas Arena.
