Jose Mourinho: I will play with nine strikers against Liverpool

The Special One is unhappy with suggestions his side will be defensive against the Reds.

United have won six of their seven Premier League matches, scoring 21 goals in the process.

And Mourinho insists his side will play with attacking intent against Jurgen Klopp’s side tomorrow.

Mourinho said: “I play with one defender and nine strikers, don’t worry about it, we play with one guy behind and then we go with a new system and we play with nine strikers, don’t worry about it.”

United could only earn a point at Anfield last season, but the Red Devils boss anticipates things being very different tomorrow.

He said: “Last season we didn’t win three points, we got one but we got one comfortably, without any problems.

“Let’s see what happens this season, we want to win, last season we wanted to win, we couldn’t. This season we want to win.”

United are currently seven points clear of their arch rivals going into the showdown.

And a win would send the Red Devils top before Manchester City take on Stoke at 3pm.

Sadio Mane will not be available for Liverpool and faces six weeks out with a hamstring problem.
