Jose Peseiro reacts to Nigeria’s 1-0 loss to Ecuador in New Jersey
Jose Peseiro has made it known to the Super Eagles his observations after their 1-0 loss to Ecuador in their second international friendly in the last seven days.
The new head coach who was in the dugout in the first friendly play in Dallas where Nigeria lost 2-1 to Mexico was again on the bench when his team lost 1-0 to Ecuador.
A third-minute freekick from Pervis Estupiñán was all that the South American nation drawn in group A alongside hosts, Qatar, Senegal, and the Netherlands needed to win the game.
And Jose Peseiro who wasn’t too impressed by what he saw especially at the start of the game reacted during his post-match briefing.
“We have players that can control, move and command the game, but we didn’t in the first 15 minutes against Ecuador,” the Super Eagles Coach remarked on his team’s performance.
The outcome of the friendlies further compounded Nigeria’s friendly record as they have now played 11 friendlies since 2019 without a win (5 draws, and 6 loses).
But Jose Peseiro and the Super Eagles will be hoping to bounce back next week when the Super Eagles face the Leone Stars in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers’ first game.
