Joseph Dosu: Flamingos bronze will spur Super Falcons to World Cup success

Atlanta 1996 Olympics gold medal winning goalkepeer Joseph Dosu believes the bronze medal win by Nigeria’s Flamingos will spur the Super Falcons to World Cup success.

WHAT THE FLAMINGOS DID

At the just concluded FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, Nigeria’s U-17 ladies the Flamingos defied the odds of history to claim a bronze medal in India.

Prior to the competition, Nigeria’s best finish was a quater-final place in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

According to 49 year-old former Nigerian shot-stopper Joseph Dosu , that historic feat should spur the Falcons to exceed their best record at the Women’s World Cup.

SUPER FALCONS AT THE FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP

Alongside USA, Japan, Norway, Germany, Brazil and Sweden, Nigeria has participated in every edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Despite their place on this hallowed roll,  Nigeria’s best record at the FIFA women’s world cup was a quater-final finish in 1999.

This jinx, Joseph Dosu believes can be broken with the motivation from the Flamingos success .

Dosu told Completesports “The truth is that nobody expected the Flamingos to go this far at the just concluded U-17 Women’s World Cup in India and I am happy that the girls came home with Bronze.

“This I believe will serve as a strong motivation for the Super Falcons ahead of the 2023 Women’s World Cup because nothing is impossible in life.
